From the Shitty to the Shit, From the Living and the Dead

Like Anna Karina's Sweater (AKA Filmbrain) had a shitty 2006, but has posted a list of favorite films that look to be the shit, mostly foreign (Japanese, German, French, Korean, Mexican, Romanian) films, and a short list of unreleased films. The list does include two homegrown directorial efforts by the late Robert Altman and the living Spike Lee.

Thanks for the link and great resource! A friend also put Pan's Labyrinth on his top films of '06 list (danbummer.blogspot.com).

Sadly, I missed every one of these. To think I once did a "top 10", 2nd best 10 and "most disappointing 10" films list. Wait...oh yes, I was unemployed, non-surfing, and living in Santa Cruz. ; )

My only resolution of the New Year is to improve my attendance at PFA and film festivals!

I just saw a preview for Pan's Labyrinth, so I think it's just coming out now, in SF first, and in other cities after about January 26th. Some film bloggers see films in early release before the rest of us, so their lists may include films not yet showing in all cities.

I like your resolution. If you get a PFA membership you can see as many films as you want for only $4 each.
